Frequently Asked Questions

About Scale-Made

What is Scale-Made?

Hecho A Escala is a store specializing in collectible scale models, including cars, classic vehicles, sports cars, JDM, European, American, limited editions, and pieces from renowned brands in the diecast and resin world.

Our focus is to offer selected models for collectors, automotive enthusiasts, and people who value the details, history, and design of each vehicle.

Products and scales

Are the products toys?

NO! The models we sell are collector's items and not toys.

Many models contain small parts, delicate details, specialized paint, moving parts, or fragile materials. Therefore, we recommend treating them as display pieces and keeping them out of the reach of young children.

What does the scale of a model mean?

The scale indicates how many times the size of the actual vehicle was reduced to create the model.

For example:

Scale Description
1:12 Large model, with a high level of presence and detail
1:18 One of the most popular scales for collectors
1:24 Intermediate size, practical for display
1:43 Compact, ideal for large collections
1:64 Small, popular for varied collections and dioramas

The smaller the second number, the larger the model. For example, a 1:18 model is larger than a 1:64 one.

Which scale do you recommend I start with?

To start a collection, the 1:18 scale is an excellent option because it offers a good size, visual presence, and level of detail.

The 1:64 scale is ideal if you want to collect many models while taking up little space. The 1:43 scale is very popular among collectors looking for variety, especially in European, classic, or racing models.

Do all the models have opening doors, hood, or trunk?

No. It depends on the brand, the type of manufacturing, and the specific model.

Some models have moving parts such as doors, hood, trunk, functional steering, or suspension. Other models, especially some made of resin, are sealed and have no opening parts.

When a model has moving parts or special features, we will try to indicate it in the product description.

Do the models come in their original box?

Yes. Models are delivered in their original packaging whenever the manufacturer or supplier provides them that way.

In some cases, the box may show slight marks from international shipping, storage, or logistics handling.

What is the difference between diecast and resin?

Diecast models are usually made primarily of cast metal, often with plastic, rubber, and other material parts.

Resin models typically allow for very precise shapes and proportions, but they are usually more delicate and often have no moving parts.

Both types can be high-quality collectibles. The choice depends on the collector's taste.

What does limited edition mean?

A limited edition is a model produced in a specific number of units.

In some cases, the manufacturer indicates the total quantity produced, for example: 999 units, 1,500 units, or 3,000 units. When we have that information available, it will be displayed on the product page.

Availability and pre-orders

What does it mean for a product to be on pre-sale?

A pre-order product is a model that is not yet physically available for immediate delivery, but can be reserved before its arrival.

Pre-orders allow you to secure a unit before the product sells out, especially for high-demand models or limited editions.

Is the estimated arrival date of a pre-order guaranteed?

No. Pre-order dates are estimates and may change due to reasons beyond Hecho A Escala's control, such as manufacturer delays, international shipping, customs, supplier availability, or production changes.

We will always strive to keep the information as up-to-date as possible.

Can I purchase in-stock products together with pre-order products?

We recommend not mixing in-stock products with pre-order products in the same order.

If an order includes both available products and pre-order products, shipment may be delayed until all items are available, unless otherwise arranged.

To receive in-stock products sooner, we recommend placing separate orders.

What happens if a pre-order is cancelled or the manufacturer does not deliver the product?

If a pre-order is cancelled by the manufacturer or we are unable to obtain the product, we will contact you to offer a solution, which may include an exchange for another product, store credit, or a refund, as applicable.

Why do some products sell out so quickly?

Many scale models are produced in limited quantities. Some manufacturers do not repeat production once the initial batch is sold out.

That is why popular models, special editions, JDM versions, movie cars, race cars, or high-demand brands can sell out quickly.

Orders and payments

How can I place an order?

You can place your order directly from our online store. Simply add the products to your cart, fill in your details, select an available shipping method, and complete the payment.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Before finalizing your purchase, carefully check the currency displayed at checkout.

Can I modify my order after placing it?

If you need to modify an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

If the order has not yet been processed or shipped, we will try to assist you. Once the order has been prepared or dispatched, it may not be possible to make changes.

Can I cancel an order?

Cancellations depend on the status of the order.

If the order has not yet been processed, we may be able to help you with the cancellation. If it has already been dispatched or prepared for shipment, we cannot guarantee the cancellation.

In the case of pre-orders, special conditions may apply depending on the product and the status of the reservation.

In-stock products are generally processed faster. Pre-order products depend on their estimated arrival date.

How do you protect the models during shipping?

We pack the products carefully to reduce the risk of damage during transport.

Scale models are delicate items, so we use appropriate protection whenever possible. Even so, we recommend checking the product upon receipt.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

If you receive a damaged product, please contact us as soon as possible with clear photos of the outer packaging, the product box, and the model.

This helps us evaluate the case and provide you with an appropriate solution.

Could the model box arrive with marks?

It may happen that the outer box has small marks, slightly affected corners, or normal signs of transport and handling.

Although we do our best to deliver products in good condition, the box may suffer minor imperfections during the logistics process.

Exchanges, returns, and warranties

Do you accept returns?

We accept return requests according to store policies and the condition of the product.

The item must be unused, complete, with its accessories, base, original packaging, and in the same condition as it was received.

Can I return a model because I changed my mind?

Returns due to change of mind may be subject to review and approval.

Collectible models are delicate products, so they must be kept intact, without excessive handling, and with their complete original packaging.

Which products are not eligible for return?

The following may not be eligible for return:

  • Products that are opened or incorrectly handled.
  • Models with parts broken due to mishandling.
  • Products without the original box, base, accessories, or packaging.
  • Final sale products.
  • Pre-orders or special orders, when so indicated.
  • Items with damage reported after a long period of time since receipt.

Do the models have a warranty?

Scale models are not electronic products or items for everyday functional use. However, if you receive a product with an obvious manufacturing defect or shipping damage, we will review the case.

It is important to report any issues as soon as possible after receiving the order.

Model care

How should I take care of my scale models?

We recommend keeping them in a dry, clean place away from direct sunlight.

Prolonged exposure to the sun, humidity, or excessive heat may affect the paint, decals, tires, plastics, or packaging.

Should I take the model out of the box?

It depends on your collection style.

Some collectors prefer to keep models in their original box to preserve them better. Others prefer to display them in cabinets or dioramas.

If you decide to take it out, do so carefully and avoid forcing doors, moving parts, or accessories.

How can I clean a scale model?

Use a soft brush, microfiber cloth, or gentle air to remove dust.

Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, abrasive cleaners, or excess moisture. Also avoid pressing on small parts such as mirrors, spoilers, antennas, windshield wipers, or emblems.

Can tires deteriorate over time?

Yes. On some models, especially if they remain resting for a long time or are exposed to heat, the tires can deform, mark the base, or deteriorate.

For high-value collections, we recommend suitable display cases and stable temperature conditions.

Are the products original?

Yes. We work with original models from recognized brands and reliable suppliers.

We do not sell counterfeits or unauthorized replicas as if they were official products.

We cannot guarantee availability, but we can check with our suppliers or notify you if it arrives in the future.
